Freshman bowler looks forward to next four years

Freshman bowler Maridee Weber experienced a pang of excitement when she heard the news that she made the school’s first bowling team.

“Essentially, there were no girls cut from the team,” Weber said. “However, I still felt good knowing that I was just good enough.”

So far in the season, Weber has lettered varsity.

“Considering this is my first varsity letter ever, I feel really good,” Weber said. “I feel so accomplished.”

With a desire to bowl for the school team for the rest of her high school career, Weber knows that she has to be open to suggestions in hopes of improving her game.

“The coaches can see what we do wrong,” Weber said. “With that, they tell us what pins to hit and how many boards to stand left or right.”

Weber hopes to bowl over 200 by the end of the season.

“I am going to focus and not be intimidated by other bowlers,” Weber said. “The less I focus on others, the better I’ll do.”

Hoping to grow as a bowler throughout the years, Weber has her personal goals set.

“I’m going to bowl that 200 this year and get a perfect game before I die,” Weber said. “Baby steps.”
