Football takes down Gardner-Edgerton 35-14

Football took the win against Gardner-Edgerton 35-14, Friday Sept. 23.

The Jaguars took on Gardner Edgerton  Friday, Sept. 23. The team came out with a great victory of 35-14 adding another win to make their record 4-0. After winning this game, the Jaguars  remain undefeated. 

Senior Jack Melvin thought the Jaguars played good but they are still wanting to get better.  

“I feel like our team is playing very well but we still have a lot to learn and correct,” Melvin said.“There is always room to improve.”

According to Melvin, fans and players alike are enthusiastic about the win and the fact that football remains undefeated in the Sunflower League.

“I feel good about being undefeated so far. The work we put in during the week definitely shows on Friday nights,” Melvin said. “I am looking forward to the upcoming games and the challenges they will bring.” 

The theme of Friday night’s game was neon. Students were decked out in neon outfits to bring support for the Jaguars and excitement to the stadium. 

Senior Izzy Sommerfeld is one of many fans in the student section who is excited for the upcoming league games and how the team is performing.  

“I am excited for the upcoming games because I feel like the team is playing very well and our defense is doing great,” Sommerfeld said.

Looking forward, the next game is this Friday, Sept. 30, at home against Olathe South High School. The theme is “Pink Out.” The team is hoping to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research.
