Football defeated Olathe East 48-17 to secure the sweep and title of the Sunflower League, Friday, Oct. 25 at home. The team went undefeated against League teams and has continued to be undefeated against any Kansas opponent they faced.

Aside from the success of the game, senior Jayden Woods had a special visit from Penn State Head Coach James Franklin.

“It was very cool to have my future college coach come to my game and watch me play,” Woods said. “It is definitely an experience that I will never forget and never take for granted.”

Junior Reggie Reece reflects back on the game as a whole.

“I thought the game went pretty well for me. As it went on I was able to find my rhythm and get some good long runs,” Reece said. “It felt great to get the win because as a team we deserve it with all of the hard work we put in throughout the season.”

Woods expresses his gratitude for the league title after not winning in previous years.

“My sophomore year we tied with Olathe North for the title, so it felt great to win the title this year and get the sweep of our league opponents.”

Going into the playoffs, Reece describes why he believes the team is looking to be in a good spot.

“I’m confident that we as a team are still going to continue to progress within the next couple of weeks,” Reece said. “ We definitely will still have some up and down moments during games, but I believe we can continue to play well overall.”
