Food truck review: CoffeeCake KC

CoffeeCake KC offers the kind of product which is seldom seen in food trucks. There you will find coffee, cupcakes and coffee cake in the kind of business which usually deals in burgers, wings ad fries.

The food at the truck is delivered very quickly, most likely due to the fact that it appears to be pre-made. Although this is not the worst sin the truck could commit, it would be nice to have freshly baked goods. This isn’t necessary for cupcakes, though.

I ordered a chocolate peanut butter cupcake and it was good despite being pre-made. There wasn’t too much or too little frosting and the Reese’s cup on top was a nice touch as well. Many different flavors of cupcakes are offered, and they’re all unique and tasty. The cupcakes cost $3.50 each.

However, the shining star of the food truck was the coffee cake itself. It was wonderfully moist, as all good cake should be, and covered in a thick layer of cream cheese frosting. There was a perfect amount of cinnamon to not overpower the cake, and the frosting itself was sweet perfection. While a diabetic coma felt near as I ate my way through the cake, it was entirely worth the sugar rush that followed considering it only cost $4.

Coming to eat at this truck won’t be a waste of time. This truck is attractive to look at, but it’s the food that makes it worth waiting in line for the sweet delights within.
