What’s a blog about Netflix without a Disney movie? Disney movies will forever be classics. A great Disney movie that I feel hasn’t been in the light enough is “The Emperor’s New Groove.”

“The Emperor’s New Groove” is about a very selfish emperor named Kuzco who doesn’t care about his workers or anyone else but himself. One of his advisors, Yzma, has this overwhelming hatred towards him and wants to be emperor. So, she takes matters into her own hands and decides to kill Kuzco so she can be emperor. Next,  Yzma and her assistant Kronk give Kuzco a potion intended to be deathly, but in a twist of events, Kuzco turns into a llama. The pair disposes of Kuzco and he ends up with Pacha, a man who lives in the village. They team up and help get Kuzco back to his palace and to be a human again.

My family got a dog in August and we named him after Kuzco because they have same personality. If you were to question my love for this movie, refer to my dog. He’s almost a carbon-copy of Kuzco.

This movie has such a great underlying message with it. It shows that you should treat others how you wish to be treated which is something that everyone, even myself, could work on. It’s something so simple but it’s also something that not enough people do. Another message included throughout the movie is to not be selfish. We all get to that point where we’re more concerned about our well-being and don’t care about anyone else. We live in a world where everyone is so self-centered, it’s hard to put others first. This is one thing I’ve always admired about Disney movies; they always have such a deep meaning that hits so close to home.

Aside from the message, it’s a super cute movie if you’re looking to spend the night in. It has a mixture of comedy and the drama between enemies that later become friends. “The Emperor’s New Groove” is definitely a Disney movie that doesn’t get enough credit.

See you next time!
