Before you go into a food coma for this five day break we have for Thanksgiving, why not spend some of it watching Netflix? In honor of Shark Week being every week here at the Valley, and it being the final official week, I recommend the 1970s classic, “Jaws” to honor our rockin’ landsharks on the field.

“Jaws” is about a great white shark who begins to take over the town of Amity, on Long Island, NY. It scares everyone in the town by how many people this shark has consumed and how big this shark is because it’s abnormally large. It becomes the talk of the town due to the number of shark attacks that happened and there’s a reward to kill this great white. They shut down the beaches until the shark is killed. It becomes the mission of the town to kill it to prevent more deaths and bring in more vacationers to Amity.

I, personally, am terrified of sharks so I was a bit apprehensive to watch “Jaws” but it’s such a staple in the filmmaking industry. Everyone knows this movie because of it’s classic movie poster and primarily for the suspenseful music when the shark approaches it’s next victim.

It’s followed by three more movies that were made soon after “Jaws” hit the big screen. If you’re really looking to have a movie marathon with family or friends on this long weekend, whip out that popcorn and get to watching some great whites.

Go cheer on our landsharks, along with all the other Jaguars, this Saturday, Nov. 26, at Carnie Smith Stadium in Pittsburg, KS at 1 pm as they compete for a second football state title. Bring home that hardware boys!

See you next time and Happy Thanksgiving Jags!
