As I’ve noticed from my multiple hours of browsing Netflix, they don’t have very many old shows to choose from. There is one that’s a real gem, though it started in the 90s and that’s “Friends.”

I’ve watched “Friends” for as long as I can remember and it still remains in my top 10 list. It follows the life of these six best friends that live in Manhattan, NY. Each character has such a different personality from the others. You have Joey Tribbiani, the “not-so-smart” character,  to put it nicely. Rachel Green is the fashionista. Monica Geller is a neat freak that’s also a master chef. There’s Monica’s brother, Ross Geller, who is the super smart paleontologist. Phoebe Buffay is the free spirit who plays guitar at the coffeehouse and sings songs such as “Sticky Shoes,” “Mother’s Ashes,” and, my all time favorite and her most famous hit, “Smelly Cat.” The last character and one of my personal favorites is Chandler Bing. He’s the sarcastic one of the bunch that always manages to slip in some smart aleck comment in almost every episode. I would consider myself to be very sarcastic so I can very much relate to Chandler.

Some of the things that make this show super unique is what these characters do. They are all so diverse but mesh so well as a group. In one of their Thanksgiving episodes, two people stick an uncooked turkey on their head. They also create a long poking device out of a bunch of chopsticks to make sure their neighbor across the way is alive. Also, the amount of shade that’s thrown in each episode is incredible and something I really enjoy.

This show has created such household names in the acting industry because it’s so well known. Jennifer Aniston is all over TV now and “Friends” was her first big break. Matt LeBlanc, or Joey Tribbiani, had only a few dollars in his pocket before this show had started. Most of the names in “Friends” were hardly heard of but now, almost everyone knows these people.

Even though this show began 22 years ago, the humor remains relevant to today’s date. They talk about things that are still discussed in today’s society and they experience things people might have to go through either right now or later on in life.

Each group of friends has very unique people in it and “Friends” brings that aspect to life. You create such a bond with the characters, even though they’re fictional, and you get to live their lives with them. This show is a classic and always will be. “Friends” is one of those shows that will never die.

See you next time!
