First Fridays review: Studio 1404

Large, market-like antique shop provides a fun shopping experience

I am accustomed to small, homey antique stores that only take a few minutes to look through. As I walked through the narrow hallway that leads into Studio 1404’s main room, I thought it would be similar. However, this store felt more like a market, or an actual furniture store, than a small collector’s cubby. It was exciting to have so much to look at and discover. Despite the store’s size, it still had the cozy charm of a typical antique store.

The main room is set up into rows you can walk up and down, lined with furniture placed into sections. Among the furniture were beautifully framed mirrors in mint condition, first-edition copies of old books and vintage dresses and hats.

The store also sells Mother Earth Paints so you can renovate vintage and antique furniture. They also offer classes to teach you how to properly use these paints and restore old items.

Whether you are an antique fanatic or simply want to take a look at some beautiful vintage items, stopping by Studio 1404 is a great idea.
