Saturday, Jan. 10 the girls bowling team competed in their first meet of the season at Royal Crest Lanes in Lawrence and the boys team competed on Friday at Royal Crest Lanes. The varsity boys placed third and the JV boys team finished first out of the entire tournament. The girls team faced 15 teams and the varsity team ended up in twelfth while the JV girls placed seventh.

Sophomore Meghan Clark, a varsity member of two years had the average series score of 155 which is higher than any girl on the Mill Valley team.

Meghan said her personal performance, along with the team’s, has been improving due to practices.

“I feel like I’ve done really well and [the team] has done all we really can,” Meghan said.

Head coach Rick Pollard said practices are very beneficial to the results from the team.

“The growth [of the team] happens every day in practice,” Pollard said. “Our practices are mostly situational … in which we set up the pins and they have to pick up spares.”

Meghan said that the situations the members face in practice are useful.

“Practicing with spares helps a lot,” Meghan said.

Meghan’s mother, Lisa Clark, comes to watch every meet. She said she enjoys watching the team and has hopes for their accomplishments.

“I love seeing the kids improve and I hope some of the players make it to state,” Lisa said.

Pollard said he enjoys coaching the team.

“I like competition and seeing kids improve,” Pollard said. “Come watch [the team], we’re pretty good.”
