Deep-fried chicken fingers

Welcome back everyone. Just to let you know, I have found homemade fried food. Oh my god, I am not exaggerating, fried food is my one and only vice. Imagine me talking like a southerner because whenever anybody wants to talk about fried food, oh man, I am definitely the person you want to talk to. So, for the first week in this semester I made chicken fingers.

Now I am going to say that I rarely like anything baked in the oven. Desserts and pastries are meant to be in the oven, but not chicken. I deep-fried these chicken strips. I let them soak in buttermilk, because that is how they do it in the south, and coated them in Panko, oy! They were absolutely delicious.

Now for the recipe.

Ingredients:

2 lbs of boneless chicken breast

For the breading:

2 cups of Panko breadcrumbs

1 ½ cups of flour

2 tsp. salt

1 tsp. pepper

1 tsp. garlic pepper

1/8 tsp. Cayanne pepper (be very cautious with this)

For the bath:

2 large eggs

¾ cup of buttermilk

Directions:

Assemble the breading ingredients in one bowl and the wet ingredients in another. Beat the eggs and buttermilk together until well blended.

Now take the chicken and on a cutting board, cut the chicken into thin strips. When dealing with chicken make sure you do not get it everywhere because it will make you sicker than you can say abracadabra. When you are done slicing all of them leave them on the cutting board until you have them soaked and breaded.

Now, while you are breading or coating them let your deep fryer warm up with oil in it obviously, if you do not have a deep fryer, procure a large skillet and fill it half way up with either canola oil or vegetable oil.

Start soaking the strips in the buttermilk egg mixture, after coated well enough, stick them into the breading bowl and after breaded, put them on a paper plate.

Continue this process until all of them are done.

When you are ready to fry get an actual plate and line it with paper towels. When frying in a deep fryer only put two to three strips in at a time, but in a skillet you can fit around 10. It will take around five minutes to fry since they do not have a bone in them. They will look like the picture and you will know that they are done.

Keep frying until they are all done. They should be crispy and smell like fried goodness. Okay I am now salivating. You can serve vegetables with them, like green beans, if I don’t make them fresh, I usually just use from a can. And I also served with it baked potatoes.

Fried food is everyone’s best friend. I see all of these shows about how you can cut back on the calories. I ain’t worried about any kind of calorie. I will keep eating fried food until the day I die, in which I hope I ate fried food that day.
