Daily announcements for Monday, May 6

Tomorrow is “Tie Dye Tuesday” – wear your hippiest clothes for the chance to win free entry into Mayhem events.

Any girl interested in playing tennis next fall must attend a pre-season meeting today during seminar in coach Alyssa Meyer’s room.

Talent show participants: rehearsal begins in the little theater promptly at 4 p.m. today. Please bring any music, props or instruments needed for the show.

There will be a cross country meeting on Friday, May 10 during seminar. The meeting will be in the auditorium.

If you would like to be a StuCo officer for the 2013-2014 school year, see StuCo sponsor Erica Crist in GL102 to pick up election and speech information. All speeches & petitions are due by 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 9.

This week is Mayhem Week. See the signs and posters around the school for details about all events.

Tuesday – Student vs. faculty basketball game at 7 p.m.

Wednesday – attend the talent show at 7 p.m.

Saturday, May 11 – mud volleyball at 12 p.m.

Sign up your Mayhem teams in the commons during lunch.

All students that were accepted into the Sociology of Community Service class for the 2013-2014 school year need to attend a meeting during seminar today in the Senior Café.

Any AP Government and Politics student who wishes to get extra review for the upcoming exam need to look at social studies teacher Jeff Strickland’s AP Government website for times and dates review sessions will be offered.

The date for the girls’ golf meeting has changed to Wednesday, May 15 during seminar. The meeting will still be held in coach Adam Wessel’s room, A203.

Voyager students: pullouts for this week are on Tuesday, Tuesday, May during Blue Four, Wednesday, May 8 during Silver Three and Thursday, May 9 during Blue Two. Stop by our room and check out the posters for more information.

All students who applied to be in Friends In Learning next year need to stop by the counseling office to pick up a letter informing them of their placement status for next year.

Junior NHS members: please remember that officer applications for next year are due to NHS sponsor Kristen Chavez today.

Today is the deadline for seniors to turn in their scholarship forms to the counseling office so that no one is overlooked at our awards ceremony or graduation program. We would also like seniors who have enlisted in the military to name the branch of the service they have joined on that same scholarship form. If you need another copy of the form, request one in the counseling office.

Students interested in being a freshmen mentor for next year please pick-up an application from the counseling office and return it by Friday, May 10.

A listing of students who have been approved to attend Eudora Ed-tech programs for next year is posted on the counseling office window. Underclassmen who were unable to be placed this year are encouraged to apply again next year.

Ticket sales for the JagNation Celebration party on Wednesday, May 8 has been extended until the end of today. Stop by business teacher Katie Heffernon’s room C200 and sign up as a group of four or more and purchase your tickets for $7.50.

The last Read and Review meeting will take place in the media center this coming Thursday, May 9. Sign up to attend the meeting starting today in the media center. Jennifer Mendez from the Johnson County Library will share pre-published teen novels with students and discuss events happening at the library this summer.

Seniors: all books and materials must be returned to the media center by this Friday, May 10. Check the list on the media center windows to see if you have materials out or outstanding fines to pay in the media center. Check out sheets for seniors will be signed starting Monday, May 13.

The journalism department earned numerous honors at Saturday’s Kansas Scholastic Press Association State Journalism Contest, including the school’s second 5A state journalism title in the last four years.

Congratulations to the Jaguar forensic team. Their efforts at state competition on Saturday, May 4 were outstanding. Please congratulate the students. Out of 20 entries, took home 15 first place medals.

Drivers’ Ed forms are now available in the office and on line. Cost is $200 and classes begin the week of Monday, June 3.
