Back to School Night is tonight. Doors open at 5:30. Parents, enter through the Activities Entrance and please bring your own class schedules with room numbers. The presentation will begin in the Main gym at 6:00 p.m.

Students who were given a pink enrollment form this week need to return it to the Counseling Office by Friday. If you need a new form, stop by the Counseling Office and get a new form.

Attention all MVHS students: the seniors will be hosting a tailgate this Friday at 5:30 p.m. before Mill Valley Night Lights. All students are invited. First students to arrive will receive a hotdog, chips and a drink. Let’s start the school year off right. Hope to see you all there.

There will be a short literary magazine meeting for returning committee members after school on Thursday, Sept. 4 in literary magazine sponsor Anna Nelson’s room.  Please Nelson if you are unable to attend.

Any boys interested in playing basketball that are not involved in a fall sport please see Coach Houlton sometime this week to get an open gym schedule.

For all individuals that plan on trying out for the 2015 baseball program there is a mandatory meeting next Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 2:20 in the Senior Café. Please bring something to write with.

The counseling office has several job opportunities posted.  Please stop by if you’re interested.

Any girls who are not involved in a fall sport and are interested in trying out for the girls’ basketball team this season need to attend a meeting this Friday during seminar.  The meeting will be in room B-221 and begin at 2:20 p.m.  This meeting is only for girls not playing a fall sport.

Freshmen – if you are interested in running for a freshman StuCo position se StuCo sponsor Erica Crist in room GL-102 to sign up and pick up a petition and speech information. Speeches and petitions are due Tuesday, Sept. 2. Elections are Wednesday, Sept. 3.

MVHS will be hosting an ACT Test Prep Class for students who have registered for the Saturday, Sept. 13 exam.  The class is on Thursday, September 4 and 11, from 6:30-9:00 in Room B-223.  The cost is $60 and checks should be made payable to MVHS. Register and payin the Counseling Office.

MVHS will be administering the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Exam on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 8:00-11:00 a.m.  Sophomores and juniors can sign up in the Counseling Office.  The registration and $14 exam fee is due Friday, Sept. 5 in the Counseling Office.

MVHS will be hosting a PSAT Test Prep Class for students taking the National Merit Exam in October.  The class is on Wednesday, Oct. 8and 15, from 6:30-9:00 in Room-B-223. .  Students can register and pay for the prep class in the Counseling Office. The cost is $50 and checks should be made payable to MVHS.

Friday is the deadline for students new to the College Now dual credit program to apply for JCCC admission and have their high school authorization form completed, signed by principal Tobie. Waldeck, and scanned to JCCC by counseling office secretary Leigh Wheeler in the Counseling Office.  It is also the priority deadline for students with qualifying ACT scores to have their high school transcript scanned to JCCC.

Tuesday, Sept. 9 is the Baker University registration and payment deadline for AP students in Government, American History, Physics, Music Theory, and Studio Art.  Friday, Sept. 12 is the COMPASS test, enrollment, and payment deadline for JCCC College Now students.

K-State’s College of Engineering is hosting a Scholars Day on Monday, Sept. 29 for seniors who have a composite ACT score of 26 or higher and a high school GPA of 3.6 or higher.  Qualified students can pre-register for the event at http://www.scholarsdday.engg.ksu.edu by Monday, Sept. 15.

We have lost and found outside the office. Many things were left in the lockers at the end of last school year. We have lots of glasses and jewelry that were never claimed.
