Bowling teams take on Topeka schools

The bowling team competed against Topeka High School, Topeka West High School and Leavenworth High School at the Gage Bowl in Topeka on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

The varsity boys placed fourth, the varsity girls placed second, the junior varsity boys placed second and the junior varsity girls placed fourth.

The varsity boys had a team score of 2,288. Individual series scores are as follows: senior Tyler Moore, 604, freshman Sloan June, 549, sophomore Jon Darby, 519, senior Garrett Scheffler, 508, senior Ryan Hannah, 502 and junior LJ Hatch, 502.

The varsity girls had a team score of 1,999. Individual series scores are as follows: senior Dakotah Widmer, 574, senior Olivia Cain, 550, sophomore Cassie Widmer, 420, freshman Maridee Weber, 398, senior Madison Bohling, 379 and sophomore Lindsey Jackson, 342.

Head bowling coach Adam Wessel said that the loss was not a shock to the team.

“[Even though we lost,] the team was fine. We kind of knew we’d run into it,” Wessel said. “There’s lots of competition in Topeka. It was kind of a good thing. We know where we are now.”

The team took on Kansas City Christian Academy and De Soto High School at home at the Ranch Bowl on Wednesday, Jan. 18. Varsity boys and girls both placed first, along with the junior varsity boys. The junior varsity girls placed third.

Next week, the bowling team will travel to Royal Crest bowling alley in Lawrence on Thursday, Jan. 26 to compete against Lawrence High School.
