Bowling season to start in January

After approving funding for bowling teams at both high schools, the district is in the process of interviewing coaches for the teams.

The official bowling season will start in January 2012. It will be considered a “try-out” sport and there will be 12 girls and 12 boys on each team. Boys and girls seasons will be simultaneous. Try-outs will be held in December, before winter break.

Practices will be held at Ranch Bowl in Kansas City, Kan., which is about 25 minutes away. Students will be bused to and from Ranch Bowl for practices. Students will not have to pay lane fees because Ranch Bowl has offered to host the bowling teams at no cost.

Students interested in trying out must have a physical completed and have a physical form and a concussion form on file with the office. Students must also be in good standing academically. Students must have passed six of eight classes from first semester.
