Blog: StuCo hosts winter dance

This year StuCo is adding a new event to their calendar- a winter dance. In past years the cheer and dance teams have been in charge of hosting a winter dance or mixer. StuCo has decided to host the dance this year because we have experience with organizing dances.

The week of Monday, Jan. 28-Friday, Feb. 1 we will have a spirit week and a pep assembly at the end of the day on Friday.  The dance will be held on Friday, Feb. 1 from 9 p.m. – 11 p.m. after the varsity boys basketball game against Tonganoxie. The king and queen of winter sports will be announced during the halftime ceremony at the boys varsity game. Students get in to the game and dance for free with their school ID. Since the dance is after the basketball game students may choose how they dress (i.e. casual or semi-formal).

I am excited that StuCo has decided to host the winter dance because I think we do a good job at planning dances. We always receive compliments about Homecoming, and I think the winter dance could be just as successful. This also gives underclassmen a second opportunity to attend a school dance other than Homecoming.

So this is saying that WPA is only at most semi-formal. Everything I have seen recently has been calling it formal. This is making me rather confused, not to mention the poll in the sidebar that gives me the option to dress formally to WPA. i would appreciate it if you would be able to clear this up. Thanks!
