Best music on an iPhone application

Tiny Wings-Tiny Wings is a simplistically addictive $1 app focused on a small bird sliding down hilly terrain and launching itself into the air, a feat made all the more satisfactory by the triumphant theme that plays throughout the game. The first thing you hear is a sleepy, relaxing lullaby as your bird rests on the menu screen that, if left on, could lull the player into a nap. Once the “play” button is pressed, however, a slightly more upbeat piano part jolts you into a more alert state, and just as you begin sliding down the colorful hills and hurling your tiny protagonist into the sky, a glorious gaggle of trumpets signifies your assent to the stars.

Peggle-Peggle is a perennially underrated app from the devious minds at PopCap games, purveyors of addicting games such as Bejeweled, Plants Vs. Zombies and Zuma. Each level has its own different track, ranging from spacey, futuristic bebop to meditative, Zen-inspired jazz. Each song gives its level more flavor, and the satisfying plink noises that escape from each peg as they are eliminated from play build to one of the most pleasant sounding games on the iPhone.

Jetpack Joyride-Jetpack Joyride is a really stupid game on the surface that feels like it will get boring quickly. Instead, as you unlock more jetpacks and get better at the game, it is harder and harder to put it down. The same goes with the music. The main riff is big and stupid, and after hearing it once, you can’t get it out of your head.
