The baseball team defeated Blue Valley North 10-4 on Thursday, April 11.

The team had an early lead by scoring five runs in the first inning as a result of a couple of well placed hits.

In the third inning the team extended the lead by scoring three more runs. While they did give up four runs in later innings they were still able to win the game.

For senior Cole Moore, the team started out really well but needed to work on finishing the game.

“I thought early on we played really well,” Moore said. “We got pretty comfortable with the lead and had to pick it up and we did so I thought we played pretty well.”

While senior Ethan Judd was happy with the teams performance, he felt they still had a lot to work on.

“I feel like it was good but it definitely could have been better,” Judd said. “We … took our foot off the gas towards the end when we needed to keep pushing,”

Assistant varsity coach T.J. Finan is happy and feels that the team is really coming together.

“We [had] a lot of young guys in today,” Finan said “They are starting to [get] really good and the team is really coming together.”

For Judd, the cold and the wind were a big thing the team had to overcome.

“[The wind] definitely had an effect on the game but you can’t let it get the best of you, you just have to keep going,” Judd said.

Finan is very happy with how the team is performing this season.

“They are playing [well] right now; we are hitting the ball, throwing good pitches, having good approaches and playing a good solid defense,” Finan said.

According to Moore the team has a lot of potential, but needs to keep working hard.

“I think once our approach gets a little bit better we can go as far as we want,” Moore said. “We control our destinies but we need to keep playing hard.”

The team plays on Tuesday, April 16 at 3&2 against Bishop Miege.
