The baseball team defeated Bishop Ward 13-2 on Tuesday, May 5.

Both senior Matt Scanlon and Eli Stewart tribute the victory to the team’s powerful offense.

“Up and down the lineup, guys were taking good swings,” Scanlon said. “That has been our best game offensively.”

Defense was also strong for the Jaguars as Bishop Ward was never able to make it past two runs.

“We had good passes and it showed on the scoreboard,” Stewart said. “If we keep playing like we did, I think we will go past regional play.”

The high morale of the game continued with sophomore Brady Garrison’s first varsity home run which Scanlon says contributed to “good results.”

Stewart notes the improvement from Tuesday’s game will come from consistency.

“We need to keep our quality swings,” Stewart said. “The direction I’d like to go is up. We can top our game [against Bishop Ward] and head down to Wichita. That is my hope.”
