Three senior athletes signed to Emporia State University during seminar on Thursday, April 12. Senior Wade Hanna signed to the baseball team, and seniors Kati Strickland and Ashton Proctor committed to the track and field team.
The first to sign was Hanna, who has competed on the school baseball team for two years.

“This is a pretty big accomplishment,” head coach Jeff Strickland said. “We have been very lucky to have him as part of this program. His dedication to baseball you can see…Emporia State’s very lucky. They are not only getting a very good athlete, but most importantly a hard worker and an all-around good man.”

Before Strickland signed, head girls track coach Mark Peck gave a speech.

“This is a big moment in a person’s life,” Peck said. “We’re going to miss her a lot. Emporia’s going to get a super young lady.”

Proctor was the last to sign, with head boys track coach Chris Dunback speaking about his high-school accomplishments.

“We’ve loved watching him grow up,” Dunback said. “He went to the KU relays and state as a freshman…He’s matured to be one of the top 400 [meter] runners in the entire state. He has done a tremendous job this year and has been a tremendous leader. We will miss him terribly.”
