The academic letter ceremony took place on Wednesday, Sept. 10. The procedure for the ceremony was changed in order to recognize multiple achievements of the school rather than just academic achievements.

The changes included a performance from the jazz band, a video made by junior Danielle Stompoly and a slideshow of photos of students participating in extracurricular activities such as Band, Choir, Journalism, Robotics, Scholars Bowl and Media Productions.

Associate Principal David Ewers took part in making these changes.

“The counselors and I met as a group to decide how to increase the night itself and make it more than simply receiving your letter,” Ewers said. “We wanted to make it a celebration of what Mill Valley does both in the classroom and in extracurricular activities.”

Senior Cody Deas, a student that had been at the ceremony in the past, said the changes improved the experience.

“I really liked the way they did the ceremony this year. It was a lot faster than years past and it was much more engaging for the audience,” Deas said.

The changes were well accepted by the audience, according to Ewers.

“I was really pleased with it,” Ewers said. “I thought we had a nice turnout and the audience seemed impressed with what we had done.”
