This year’s annual Homecoming dance was hosted in the gym as well as the cafeteria with the theme, “Country Roads, Take Me Homecoming.” The dance floor was packed with students dancing and singing with one another.
Junior Natalia Castillejos-Ramirez, a member of StuCo who spent the week preparing and decorating for the dance, expresses how long the process of deciding the theme was.
“The theme was decided before school started, and only when the school year began did we assign people to take care of certain tasks such as food, drinks, and more,” Castillejos-Ramirez said. “We knew this was a big responsibility and wanted to execute it as well as we could.”
For senior Sam Bowling, he enjoyed the ambiance of the dance and felt that he could appreciate his last homecoming, specifically the layout of things this year.
“They really carried out the theme a lot this year, which stuck out and was hard to miss,” Bowling said. “The extension to the cafeteria added a nice touch and made it easier to socialize.”
Freshman Isabella Roberts had high expectations going into homecoming this year. She was very excited to experience it for the first time.
“I loved going to dinner and taking pictures with my friends before the dance, but my favorite part was the environment inside the actual dance,” Roberts said. “I loved the theme and took the chance to dress up country.”
Overall, the dance was a huge success, encompassing everything from the decorations to the atmosphere. Castillejos-Ramirez was grateful to have had the opportunity to play a part in putting on homecoming this year.
“[Homecoming] is a really great way to get our school together,” Castillejos-Ramirez said. “Not only do we get to use our artistic abilities and organization skills, but the best part is being able to enjoy it with the rest of the student body.”
