Monday, Aug. 3: Volleyball clinic
“Coaching the little girls is very fun because I love to teach them new things about volleyball. They get so excited when they accomplish [skills]. I have bonded with the girls. What I have learned from them is kids are always willing to work hard and not give up on anything,” senior Catie Kaifes said.
Tuesday, Aug. 4: Zero-hour weights session
“[We have zero-hour] to get better at your sport strength wise and to become the best player you can be. I would say being around all the players that are there to get better [is my favorite part]. They keep pushing each other to get better. To be honest, I don’t have a least favorite thing about weights because all of the players make it fun,” senior kicker Andrew Hicks said.
Wednesday, Aug. 5: Turf field construction
“I think the turf field will enhance our players’ performance. It will be a lot of fun for powder puff football too. It adds value to our stadium and therefor will attract more of an audience and I can see our programs growing bigger because we are going into the Eastern Kansas League. It is really preparing us to move up,” senior Katie Burke said.
Thursday, Aug. 6: Band camp
“This year we are playing Planet Queen which is a mixture of three Queen songs and two movements from the Planets. The music is a lot harder than we have used to for marching. The easiest part of this year’s show is how passionate we are about the music. You can tell we’re willing to work hard this year. I think the seniors will have pretty big shoes to fill this year and we will need to be leaders. I am really excited to perform at football games and competitions,” senior Allie Kubiak said.
Thursday, Aug. 6, evening: Jaguar football clinic
“[The clinic] was to teach the Junior Jags about the safe and correct way to play their positions in Little League football. [Head coach Joel] Applebee was in charge and the position coaches taught their positions. I enjoyed meeting the new group of kids and being able to help teach them the awesome sport of football.” junior right guard Jacob Campbell said.
