The junior class won the overall Class Cup competition for the 2014-15 school year and was rewarded with a trip to the Kansas City Zoo on Wednesday, April 29.

Junior Savannah Praiswater enjoyed her time at the zoo and felt like everybody else enjoyed themselves too.

“It was [a] pretty happy [day] because school is kind of a sad dreadful atmosphere,” Praiswater said. “So seeing everybody smiling and laughing was a lot more fun than sitting in school the whole day.”

Praiswater had an unique trip, because she got to go inside the cages to see the penguins and the elephants as a result of her uncle working at the zoo.

“We went over to the penguin exhibit and we met a couple of workers who give tours all the time,” Praiswater said. “They make you step in some disinfectant and then you can walk on the exhibit with the penguins. They show you which ones are nicer and let you pet them and I got a couple pictures with him, his name was Buddy.”

English student teacher Victoria Polomino went on the field trip as a chaperone. She said it was a fun, peaceful day. Along with Praiswater, Polomino enjoyed the penguins the best.

“My favorite part about the field trip was the penguins,”Polomino said. “They were so fun to watch. It was a new exhibit, so it was really cool.”

Praiswater said the zoo was a great place to have the Class Cup field trip.

“All the options were like baseball, the zoo, or worlds of fun,” Praiswater said. “All of them were fun but I [had] never been to the Kansas City Zoo.”

Polomino said at overall, the trip was a fun, peaceful day.

“The weather was really nice,” Polomino said. “Everybody was really friendly and in a good mood so it was a pretty awesome atmosphere.”
