The football team ended its season with a 42-21 loss against Pittsburg High School on Friday, Nov. 7. Junior linebacker Grant Warford said that the first half of the game showed the team’s improvement throughout the season.

“My favorite part of the game was probably the first half,” Warford said. “We came out on the three and out, then our offense stepped up and kept with [Pittsburg]. Defensively, they kind of got through us a little bit, but we were able to fight back and battle with them.”

Despite a well-played first half when Pittsburg led 21-14, the Dragons came back in the fourth quarter with 21 unanswered points. Warford was disappointed that the season couldn’t have ended with a win.

“I just felt bad for the seniors, that we couldn’t give them a win,” Warford said. “Ultimately, we wish we could’ve won state, but we still had a good season.”

Although the season ended with a loss, the team’s 5-5 final record against the toughest schedule in Jaguar football history still brought the players positivity.

“[I liked] just getting to know everyone and getting to play with everyone,” Warford said. “It was fun to experience a more difficult schedule, and I think it all just brought us all together and made us friends for life.”
