Hello fellow friends, peers and strangers, my name is Alison Booth and I have decided to take on the daunting task of writing a blog this year. And, of course, what else is there for me to write a blog about than current events and politics? Now, I know what you’re thinking: Alison Booth, speaking her mind? Shocking, I know.
In all seriousness, however, I’m incredibly excited to begin this blog with high hopes that it will not only keep me more informed in the happenings of today’s international society, but also provide ample and informative content for all of you. I enjoy learning about what’s happening in the world because I think it’s imperative to know about the society you live in. Having a voice within society is something I firmly believe in, and staying informed is a crucial aspect of this.
Your opinion on current events or politics should be based on conception of proven facts not just from one news source, but from a variety. It goes without saying that some news sources are biased, but we shouldn’t necessarily take this as a bad thing. Comprehending several views that encompass one subject can be nothing but beneficial. Even if you completely disagree with someone, hear them out; you never know what you could learn.
What that being said, the main purpose of my new blog is to keep me, along with everyone else, “in the current.” In my opinion, this simply means being aware of things around you — whether it be what’s going on in the world, in our country, in our state or even just within our school, you should be informed about the happenings of the world we live in.
There’s a lot going on in the world today, from devastating natural disasters to ludicrous politics, but I’m excited to keep you updated on every bit of it. Let’s get this year rolling, my friends.
