Freshman physical education class performs aerobic dances

Freshman physical education class performs aerobic dances

Stepping in time to the song “We R Who We R” by Ke$ha, students in physical education teacher Christine Preston’s girls Freshman Physical Education class followed along to their peer’s aerobic exercise.  Students created their own aerobic routine to a song of their choice.

“[Aerobic dancing] is a trendy thing and the kids like music and dance,” Preston said. “Why not tie it all together?”

In order to finish the project, students had to find a song, create a dance and teach the dance to the class.  Preston saw many benefits to the project.

“I think they’re learning another way of being physically active in a fun environment,” Preston said. “They are learning to stand in front of the class and present what they’ve created.”

Freshman Kelly Gothard said she enjoyed completing the project.

“Getting to have our creativity put into a project [was my favorite part],” Gothard said. “Just dancing together with the class was a lot of fun.”
