Freshman golfer enjoys golfing for the school

Varsity golfer freshman Jack Casburn has always enjoyed golfing, starting to play in second grade. After golfing for eight years, Casburn is excited to finally compete for the high school team.

“It’s a whole different scenario golfing on a team,” Casburn said. “You have to really stay focused on what to do with every shot and make the right decision. If you lose focus, you’re bound to mess up.”

Being his first season on the high school team, Casburn hopes to gain experience from watching his teammates and learning something new every day.

“I’d like to become a better all-around player and learn from the upperclassmen,” Casburn said.

As the team practices almost every day of the week, Casburn says that his teammates and he are close to each other and are always encouraging one another.

“We all know each other pretty well,” Casburn said. “We talk a lot during practice and tend to hang out once practice is over.”
