Austin speaking:
Today our fourth issue arrived. As happy as I am because it turned out so great, with it also comes some sadness; it officially marks the halfway point of Volume 13 of the JagWire. I never expected the school year to fly by so fast, and with that comes a year full of newspaper as well. I have been on staff since my sophomore year, and since then I have been working hard to become an editor-in-chief. But now that I’ve been so busy fulfilling the duties of editor-in-chief for half of a school year, time has somehow managed to slip right by me. This just shows how important it is to just stop every once and a while to appreciate what’s going on in your life. Next semester, for the second half of Volume 13’s issues, I will continue working super hard to produce a great paper, something that I am so passionate about and love so much.
Kristina speaking:
The fourth issue marked the halfway point of the school year, and the halfway point of our newspaper publication. It’s such a bittersweet feeling to know that we’ve already published four issues this year and that we only have four issues left. It makes me so proud to say that this issue is the first to have 20 pages. We ended 2012 with an issue full of interesting and very relevant stories. I know I say it all the time, but I am so proud of the staff this year and all of their contributions to the paper and our website. I have high hopes that the next four issues will progress further into an even better newspaper.
Hanna speaking:
I measure the school year by which newspaper issue we’re on. I’m serious. Winter break is exciting, but I only realized how fast this year has flown by when we distributed our fourth issue today. As sad as it is that this year is halfway over, I am also really proud of our staff. Other than the “I HATE HAN” signs that are posted around the room, I think we’ve been pretty positive with each other and are really bonding as a staff. Overall, I have been really impressed by how much we have grown each issue and how much more potential we still have. At the beginning of the year, I couldn’t imagine finishing four issues. But they went by so fast and now, eight issues seems out of reach. As hard as newspaper is, I hope the last four issues go by slower than the first.
