Even though Halloween is over, scary movies and shows remain popular year-round. I’m not usually a fan of scary shows, but this is one I particularly like because it’s more of a mystery than science fiction.

“Stranger Things” takes place in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, in 1983. It all starts with a group of four middle school boys and one of them, Will Byers, disappears without a trace. The police start looking for him, but only find his bicycle and suspicious goo in the shed behind his house. After a couple episodes, many people disappeared without a trace and the characters started wondering what was going on in the town. Supernatural forces are behind the disappearing people but not many have figured it out yet.

I would categorize this show as horror/science fiction because there are some spooky parts such as creepy monsters literally coming out of the woodwork. Everyone had been raving about how good “Stranger Things” is and I wanted to see how good it is. I’ve never been a huge fan of horror and science fiction but I would say it’s high quality entertainment.

I’m not one to experiment with  the shows I watch, but I feel watching “Stranger Things” will help me branch out from the little bubble I’m in right now which consists of romance and comedy. If you’re like me with your TV shows, “Stranger Things” will help you to expand upon what you watch and hopefully you can find a new show. After all, that was my goal for this year. I would say I’m getting closer to my goal because people talk to me about my blog every so often and that believes me to think that people go and watch the show or movie and, fingers crossed, they like it.

Whether you’re into science fiction or not, this is still one show I would definitely recommend. It is very different but some of the most well-known people in the filmmaking industry collaborated to create “Stranger Things.” Names such as Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Steven King. Regardless of who created the show, it’s still something to watch and you should go check it out.

See you next time!
