Over spring break last year, I wanted to find a new show to watch. Some of my friends had been watching “Parks and Recreation” so I thought, why not? I began to watch it and the episodes seemed to go by really fast. Before I knew it, I was onto the next season. This is one show where you can lose track of time fast when watching it.

When I began to watch it, I wasn’t too impressed with it. The start wasn’t incredibly captivating but as I began to watch more of it, it got funnier and funnier. “Parks and Rec” is very similar to “The Office” in how it’s filmed. The basic plot line is also similar because they both take place in a boring setting with people appear to be nothing but boring. If you like “The Office,” I think you’ll like “Parks and Rec.”

“Parks and Rec” takes place in Pawnee, Indiana. The show revolves around the people that work in the parks and recreation department of the government. Sounds boring, right? Wrong. It’s actually extremely funny once you get passed the first few episodes. The show follows the workers through their lives and the multiple adventures they go on in this little town. There’s a band one of the main characters lead, there’s a horse named Li’l Sebastian that everyone is obsessed with for no apparent reason and there’s a rival town that gets involved in more episodes than one. Many more things happen throughout the seven seasons they have but those few things are some that make this show unique.

The show is full of people with all kinds of personalities. You have Leslie Knope, the happy and energetic one that has enough enthusiasm for everyone on earth. There’s Ron Swanson, the angry-looking, monotone, head honcho that does next to nothing but is still very entertaining. Ron has a very dry sense of humor. He’s like communications teacher Mike Strack when it comes to humor and looks if that paints a better picture. Except, Ron Swanson doesn’t have as good of hair as Strack. You also have Jerry Gergich who is the guy that everyone makes fun of and who always gets stuck with the tasks that no one wants to do. Then, there’s Andy Dwyer. He doesn’t start out working with these people but eventually becomes the building’s only shoe shiner. Don’t worry, that all gets explained in the first few episodes. There’s many more people but these were some of the top characters.

Overall this is a great show if you’re looking for a good comedy. It truly makes time fly when you’re watching it. There is a variety of characters throughout the series and it’s comical what these characters do. I would recommend this to anyone who’s looking. Sadly, they aren’t making anymore episodes but the show is still worth the watch.

See you next time!
